I think she likes the boys...

Or maybe the boys like her? I'm not sure but I know that this girl for certain likes to have a good time! Addy had a week full of fun play dates with four of her little "boy" friends. We had so much fun getting to see mommy's friends and their little ones. It just so happens that all of mommy's friends have little boys....if she's anything like her mommy, Addy will enjoy hanging out with the boys. A little tomboy in the making perhaps?

Mommy's oh so funny college roommate and life long friend, Michal lives in Stillwater. Her little boy Henry is 14 months old and the sweetest little guy. Henry let Addy play with all his toys, tear up his living room....and I think he was really excited because she let him kiss and hug all over her =)

Hey, I want mom to get me one of these!

Size shown to scale

Yup, that's my head Henry.

Must be love....

Hey, can I come over more often? Henry if your anything like your mom I think you may be an onery boy!

As it just so happens my best friend, Marla Ann was in Stillwater also visiting her parents. It was wonderful to see her and her two boys for a little get together! River is 1 1/2 and Jonah is almost 4. Riv just loved on Addy....It's a good thing JT wasn't around to see all the kissing and hugging going on with his little girl!

Aunt Marla, what's this boy want?

Oh these boys!

Marla and her family watching the kids play

Just hanging out..

Earlier in the week my friend, Christine came over to my parent's house and brought her athletic and oh so cute little one Grady. Grady is almost a year old. And he's an athlete just like his mom and dad! I grew up playing basketball and softball against Chris, who was from a nearby town. We were fierce competitors on the court, but off the court we were always good friends. She's still as sweet today as she was all those years ago and is now expecting baby number two. Addy and Grady had so much fun together!

When I get nervous, I suck my thumb...

I really like this thumb...

Hey Grady, look at those dogs!

The Good Old Days

I love old black and white photographs. They take my mind back to a time and place when life seemed to be a little more dreamy and nostalgic perhaps. I really enjoy sifting through old pictures of my parents and grandparents when they were younger. Those old black and white pictures show such contrasts of dark and light, innocence, youth and hardship. Those old photographs remind of the good old days.

Words do little justice in expressing how funny a phenomenon change is. I won't really attempt to tackle that through writing tonight. We all long for the old days though, don't we? I look at my grandparents barn, land and house and wonder what it would be like if they were still here to experience this year's harvest. I stand in the old barn with my own daughter now realizing it had been 3 years since I had stepped foot inside. Too hard. Too many memories. Yes, I long for the good old days, but the good old days are hard to return to sometimes.

I gaze in the barn, at where my grandfather used to sit on an old couch during the heat of summer's reaping and planting. That couch is now empty without him. What would it be like if I could just walk across over inside my grandmother's house and be greeted by her warm smile and mouth watering cooking? But she's gone and her house is empty of all I used to know. And oh how I miss her. Change is hard. Change is inevitable.

In an effort to capture some of my own memories of what my daughter will one day hopefully call the good old days, I took some black and whites of all that entails life on the farm. It is a humble and rewarding way of life. My own heritage that JT and I can hopefully pass onto all our children one day.

Shutting Her Down...

Today marked the last day of harvest. Unofficially the last day that is. There still is a lot of work to be done in the fields and so on. But all the wheat is cut and that is a very good thing.

For the most part, harvest was better than expected with the wheat yielding higher than normal. It has been smoking hot here with temps above 100. That makes for very good "wheat cutting" weather. However, for everyone else out there, it's just plain hot! Here the last few snapshots of Harvest of '09.

Buddies

This is a picture of JT's Granny Aub and myself from a few weeks ago. Isn't she something? What a cutie! Aubrey is the definition of fun. She's witty and has more spunk than an eighteen year old kid. But most importantly, Aubrey has a heart of gold. She just recently joined the blogging world thanks to Aunt Kelly. We're so glad to have her following our crazy life. She has adopted me as her own. How lucky am I? Welcome on Aub!

Little Miss John Deer

My dad started cutting his wheat a couple days ago. We took the little Snooks out yesterday for her first harvest experience! She absolutely loved the combine. We didn't know how she would react to the loud machine's rumble and wheat and chaff blowing everywhere....but she wasn't scared a bit. We eagerly made our way out the combine, posed for a couple pics and climbed up on board.

We sat next to Matt, my dad's hired hand and Addy was mesmorized by the entire cutting process. I was so proud of her for being such a sport. We can't wait to ride again!

For her first harvest, Addy wore her little farm dress

Hey guys, I wanna ride again!

9 months and counting...

Today is sweet pea's 9 month birthday! Oh how she's changed over the last three months! I'm sad to say that she no longer feels like a little "baby" anymore. She is such a big girl! Addy is very independent. This little girl likes to play hard all day long and the world is one big adventure seen through her little eyes.

Her newest hobbies include: crawling wherever and whenever she desires, eating strawberry puree, jumping off the side of the pool, being thrown into the air in the pool, speaking Portuguese, getting up around 6:15 AM, playing the piano, pulling herself up in her crib, petting the dogs, picking up the tiniest particles from the floor with her little fingers, (next to the Dyson she's the best vacuum I've ever owned), sunbathing, learning geometry, drinking apple prune juice and growling like a bear.

This 9 month old munchkin is a bundle of joy. I'm ashamed to admit, but I've already started shopping and looking around for first birthday ideas. Shame on me! You might think that my party planning is a little premature. I mean, it is 3 months away! Well the summer is going to fly by and before we know it September will be upon our heels. So sad to think about, yet so exciting.

We love you Addy! You're such a sweet little girl. We've been blessed!

Oh, I love dogs!

Ole blue eyes

Give a baby a box and some balls and well....fun is to be had

Oh still no teeth

But we are getting some hair! Blond curls to be exact!

Excited about life!

Just Do It

Addy is a Nike fan. She likes the fit and she really likes the style. Hopefully, one day she will be able to run and walk many miles with her old mom. She'll probably kick my hiney in anything and everything we do together....the girl is intense about competition and playing hard.

And I have to admit, I think her little tan athletic legs look pretty darn cute. It's probably all the jumping, bouncing, crawling, balancing and kicking that she does on a daily basis. If you're looking for a new shoe do for the summer, Addy highly recommends pink and silver Nikes...size 2.

Oh the places we've been...

Oh the places we will go. Oh the places we have been. We've taken a little break from blogger world. This has been due to simply being exhausted!! Here's a quick update for everyone out there wondering what in the world is going on with Addy, JT, Ash, Soph & Shiloh. At the end of May we flew down to Corpus for JT's sister Jordan's wedding. We got to see a lot of family and good friends. It was a busy weekend and things haven't slown down since we've gotten back to Oklahoma.

We have some great news to share though. JT has found an excellent job in K.C. and we also have a house! We are so excited to get into our cutsie little place in Overland Park. We will be officially moving up that way at the end of the month. Until then, we will be laying over in OK and trying to relax and unwind a little. One of the ways we relax and "unwind" is to go out on the farms with the girls to run. Harvest is right around the corner and the wheat is gorgeous! Well, we will keep you all updated as we go. Much love.

This was the farm in May....

And this is the same farm yesterday...

I love the wheat

The girls love running and playing...and riding in the back of the jeep

In fact, Soph had so much fun, she fell asleep on the table. Silly Vizsla

The pond we will take Addy to to fish someday soon...

Oh so sweet

One of our favorite days in Corpus was going out to the beach with our dearest friends, the Kilmers. It was the kids' first time at the beach and ocean....they had a blast. We enjoyed the sun, surf and just relaxing a little!
